Code of Conduct

Freemason HQ is a place of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.

As in a well-governed Lodge, harmony must be the strength and support of all our endeavors. Every Brother who enters these digital halls is expected to conduct himself with the dignity, courtesy, and respect becoming a Mason.

Govern Yourself Accordingly

1. Remember Your Obligation
Conduct yourself here as you would in the presence of your Brethren assembled in Lodge. Treat every Brother with respect, even when you disagree.

2. Religion and Politics Are Strictly Prohibited
The discussion, debate, promotion, or condemnation of religion or partisan politics is not permitted anywhere on Freemason HQ.

These subjects have long been excluded from the Lodge because they divide men who have otherwise met upon the Level. Violation of this rule may result in suspension from Freemason HQ.

Masonic education that necessarily discusses historical or philosophical religious concepts may be permitted when appropriate, but this shall never become a forum for sectarian religious debate, proselytizing, or attacks upon another man’s faith.

3. Preserve the Harmony of the Craft
Personal attacks, insults, threats, harassment, deliberate provocation, or conduct intended to disturb the peace and harmony of this community will not be tolerated.

Disagreement is permitted. Unmasonic conduct is not.

4. Guard What Has Been Entrusted to You
Do not publish, request, or distribute ritual, modes of recognition, private Lodge business, or other information that should not be communicated to those not entitled to receive it.

The fact that something can be posted online does not mean that it should be.

5. Meet Upon the Level
Rank and office do not grant a Brother license to mistreat another. Whether Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, Master Mason, Past Master, Grand Lodge officer, or otherwise, every Brother is entitled to courtesy and fair treatment.

6. Be Truthful in Your Representation
Do not falsely claim Masonic membership, degree, office, title, Lodge affiliation, or Grand Lodge recognition. Attempts to circumvent verification or gain access to material to which you are not entitled may result in immediate removal.

7. Keep Private Matters Private
Do not post another Brother’s private correspondence, personal information, Lodge disputes, disciplinary matters, or other confidential information without proper authority or consent.

8. No Commercial or Personal Exploitation
Do not use the Fraternity or this community to deceive, defraud, improperly solicit, or take advantage of another Brother.

9. Respect the Authority of Recognized Grand Lodges
Freemason HQ does not replace, supersede, or speak for any Grand Lodge. Nothing on this site grants authority contrary to the laws, regulations, edicts, or established usages of a Brother’s own jurisdiction.

10. Remember Where You Are
This community exists to strengthen the Craft, spread Masonic knowledge, assist our Brethren, support our Lodges, and promote fellowship.

Before posting, ask yourself a simple question:

Would I say or do this within a tiled Lodge, in the presence of my Brethren?

If the answer is no, it probably does not belong here.

Enforcement

Moderators are charged with preserving order and harmony within Freemason HQ. Content may be removed when it violates these standards.

Depending upon the nature and severity of the offense, violations may result in a warning, temporary restriction, suspension, or permanent removal from the site.

Discussion of religion or partisan politics may result in suspension.

Attempts to obtain unauthorized degree-restricted material, falsify Masonic credentials, deliberately expose protected Masonic information, or seriously threaten or harass another member may result in immediate suspension or removal.

Final Charge

Freemason HQ should reflect the same principles we profess within the Craft.

Meet upon the Level.
Act upon the Plumb.
Part upon the Square.
And let Brotherly Love prevail.
